GIANT business start-up day and incubation projects

The first GIANT "business start-up day" organised on 11 March by the CEA and the seven partner institutes of the GIANT initiative, was a real success. Over 200 participants took part, with many requests for one-to-one interviews with innovation specialists and advisers. To follow up potential projects on the EPN science campus and to identify areas in which know-how could be transferred to third parties, a first meeting has been organised to bring together ILL, ESRF and GRAVIT, one of the key organisations in Grenoble experienced in taking laboratory innovation to the commercial arena.

ESRF and ILL have just signed up for a joint membership to benefit from GRAVIT's expertise in detecting and maturing technology which has the potential to be brought to market. GRAVIT can provide financial support and expertise for the creation of spin-off companies or for licensing to partners. ESRF has already had one project under incubation with another on track, and ILL is under way to submit one project and to screen possible areas of technology transfer.

Another good example of ESRF and ILL joining their forces for the mutual benefit of the EPN science campus!
