On 17 September, as part of the European week of sustainable mobility, Grenoble's Presqu'île / GIANT Inter-company transport plan (PDIE) is organising with the CEA the 5th edition of the Sustainable Mobility Day.
The event is devoted to the ecological challenge of finding innovative and different ways to get about. It has become the most important event of its kind in France and attracts nearly 15000 visitors to some 600 different stalls and events.
The "mobility village" extends over 50 000 m² under the banner of "living and moving differently". It will be entirely accessible to disabled visitors with the four main types of handicap being taken into account. It will bring together those working on questions of sustainable means of transport, innovation, accessibility and safety, from companies and associations, higher education and research. Thanks to the partnership formed by different industries concerned (Renault, ERDF, EDF, Transdev, La Poste, Symbio FCell, Engie, …) there will be a remarkable collection of about a hundred low-emission vehicles on display. The local authorities (Région Rhône-Alpes, Conseil départemental, Métropole, Syndicat Mixte des Transports en Commun and Ville de Grenoble) will also be there, to explain their plans for the future and their strategies to counter solo-car-driving and develop the use of alternative, more sociable means of transport. The SEDI will also be there to present its plans for a public network of 305 vehicle charging stations in Isère.
At the same time the event will be hosting the first national conference on company and inter-company transport plans - the Assises nationales des PDE-PDIE on the theme of "the ecological transition in commuting" - as well as the second forum on innovative mobility: "Du thermique à l’électrique".
And amongst all these events you mustn't miss the "Kilowatthon" stand, where we will beat the world record for the largest amount of electricity generated by a single person in a four-hour session of pedalling (certified by a Guinness Book of Records judge).
So mark 17 September in your diaries straightaway!
