The ESRF and ILL welcome groups for visits to one or both of the institutes. The visit to either institute takes half a day - a full day therefore for a combined visit.

Security requirements for all group visits:

• Visitors must be at least 15 years old.

• The following information is needed at least 10 days in advance, for site access reasons: full name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, for all those in the group.

• Please bring your passport or national ID card with you for the visit.

Visit the ILL

Discover the Institut Laue Langevin, an international research centre at the leading edge of neutron science and technology

The visit includes a general introduction, the viewing of a short film about the ILL, followed by a tour of the guidehalls where you can discover our unique facilities.

You will also have the opportunity to visit the reactor and its "pool" with underwater fuel elements. Please note that this tour is subject to certain conditions, please contact us for more information.

Discover the European Synchrotron

The ESRF welcomes thousands of visitors every year from around the world. 

The visits include a general introduction in our Visitor Centre, followed by a guided tour in the experimental hall and the beamlines where the scientists work.

Please note that you have to book your visit 2 months in advance.
