Epn science campus stand in Nantes

Materials play an essential role in our everyday lives, whether in our housing or transport facilities, health matters or energy...  There is therefore no surprise if the third "Matériaux" Conference, held recently in Nantes from 18 to 22 October attracted 1900 scientists and industrialists.

The conference is held every four years and brings together the francophone Materials community, from both industry and academia.  This year there were 14 colloquiums spread over the five days, each with numerous presentations and poster sessions.

The ESRF and ILL had booked a joint stand at the conference, with the intention of raising our visibility and inform potential industrial partners of the range of technology available on the epn science campus. The ESRF and ILL scientists participating all took time out to man the stand.

The result of the discussions both at the stand and poster sessions was significant progress towards signing a large number of contacts with industry companies and academic organisations; the interest shown in both the ESRF and ILL looks likely to lead to increased industrial use and collaboration on R&D projects.
